Zebbie Marquita Tuell

of Leslie, AR

November 4, 1960 - March 9, 2014

Zebbie Marquita (Massey) Tuell, age 53, of Leslie, AR, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Conway Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Zebbie spent more than 20 years employed at the Leslie School. She loved her school family and was adored by many. Some of her favorite times were spent cooking for her family, gardening, driving around looking for deer, and listening to Mike play his guitar. Zebbie also loved all holidays, especially Christmas. She took pride in decorating all 6 of her Christmas trees. Most of all, her 3 grandkids were the highlight of her life, and she was a proud Mama Zebbie.

Survivors include her Mama, Bennie Nell (Horton) Massey of Leslie; husband Mike Tuell of Leslie; daughter Rachel (Jason) Sanders of Marshall; son Zach (Samantha) Tuell of Plumerville; three grandchildren: Thomas Sanders, Caroline Sanders, and Keaton Tuell; and a host of friends, family, and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her Daddy, Zeb Massey, and sister, Pamela.

Visitation services will be held at 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the Roller-Coffman Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 12. The graveside memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, March 13, at the Leslie Cemetery, with Billy Don Crow officiating.

Pallbearers are Jeff Massey, John Franklin Massey, Timmy Massey, Thad Chadwick, David Smith, Heath Horton, and Tony Horton.

So many beautiful words spoken about Zebbie as I sit here with tears and sadness for her loss. Bennie Nell, Mike and family, you have my love and prayers in the coming days as you learn to heal and move on without Zebbie by your side. I know it's a tremendous loss for all of you. I was dreaming about her last week. I was crying in my dream, and when I woke, I was crying. Now she's gone. I loved her as my cousin and as my co-worker, but mostly because she was a dear friend. From bouncing around in that white Chevy LUV in the 70s to all the coffee we made for each other and drank together during our wonderful years at Leslie High School to my retirement party that she gave me, Zebbie has been and will remain a significant influence in my life. Mike, my dear Rachel, and Zach, I wish you comfort and peace. I can only partially understand your grief, but I know that for me there exists another void in my heart and in my life. I hope to look for her in the coming paradise.

I was very blessed to have known Zebbie for 50 years. We were classmates and friends. I made a point in the last fews years to stop in and see her when I was passing through. We spent hours with her and Mike last homecoming laughing and reminiscing. I will forever cherish that time with her. She will be so missed and Leslie Homecoming will never be the same for me. Till we meet again my sweet sweet friend..

My Dear Cousin

I'll never forget the times we talked
I'll never forget the secrets.
I keep them in my heart, they're locked.
All the times we shared so happily.

I'll always remember the way you laughed,
Your smile and your sent.
All the times we shared together
All the times that we spent.

Holiday get together's will never be the same,
without you there to share the joy.
To watch the kiddies grow and play
and their excitement of a new toy.

Now that you're gone
all we can do is cry,
because if love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

It speaks volumes for the person she was, that a whole town will mourn Zebbie's passing. She made every person with whom she came in contact feel as if they were the most important person in the world. She stood with so many of us through our happiest times, our saddest times, through our accomplishments, and through our failures. She loved and was loved by every kid in Leslie. Ms. Zebbie was their friend, their confidant, their teacher, and their greatest supporter. She was also a great nurse to them! My fondest memories of being at Leslie School involve those nursing skills. A child would come to the office and she would ask them if they needed real medicine, or her to kiss it and make it better. More often than not, they just wanted her to give them a little love and attention. She must have had the most comfortable lap in town too, because the largest majority of kids had been held and cuddled by Ms. Zebbie. There will be an empty spot in our lives, but our hearts will always be full of those wonderful memories and the love she gave a whole town!

Bennie - There are no words that will ease your pain at this moment. Zebbie was a remarkable young lady who will always be remenber for the joy she brought to everyone. She had a smile that started from the inside and radiated to her face. Her life may have been short but it was not an incomplete life. During her walk on earth she touched so many people with her acts of kindness and if just a small percentage of these people will pass along just one act of kindness it will be a testimony to her kindred spirit. Remember our time on earth is our temporary life, Zebbie has gone to her permanent life in Heaven where she will no longer suffer from a horrible disease but will spend her days playing with God's children and smiling all day long. I will keep all of the family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.
