Winifred Frey

of Harrison, AR

February 8, 1918 - February 9, 2014

Winifred Frey, age 96, of Harrison went to be with her Lord Sunday, February 9, 2014. She was born in Chicago, Illinois February 8, 1918 to Fred and Frances (Anderson) Manning. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her sisters: Marie Findley and Ethel Logan; her brother: Frederick Manning; and grandson, Stephen Frey.

In 1939 Winifred married Edward Frey and they lived and raised their family in the Chicago area. After retirement in 1975, they moved to Yellville and later Winifred moved to Harrison in 1983, where she was an active contributor and member at Faith Assembly of God for over 30 years.

Winifred was an accomplished homemaker with skills in sewing, needlework, cooking and baking, especially appreciated by her family of five growing boys. The family enjoyed pleasant vacations of fishing and travels around the United States to see relatives and places of natural beauty. She was proud to have raised her sons to build families and successful careers. She maintained a wide network of friends and extended family members and always made an effort to keep track of the growing number of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends alike enjoyed her gentle and occasionally wry sense of humor. Winifred loved keeping houseplants and exhibited a knack for growing beautiful African violets. She also enjoyed keeping her backyard birdfeeders filled and watching the many beautiful visitors that came to them. Over the years she provided warm friendship and support to her neighbors and she was blessed to receive the same from them.
Winifred is survived by her sons: Edwin (Celia) of Loveland, Colorado, Donald (Susan) of Carterville, Illinois, Paul (Ruth Ann) of Anderson, South Carolina, Thomas (Cheryl) of Aurora, Colorado and Charles (Jody) of Hudson, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great- grandchildren.

Funeral service was Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Reverend Arlis Thrasher officiating.

Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Yellville, Arkansas.

Memorial may be made to Faith Assembly of God Church, 112 Valley View Church Road, Harrison, AR 72601, in her memory.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I have lost so many members of my family. Losing loved ones is overwhelmingly painful. One thing that brings me some comfort is what the Bible says at Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces." We look to God through Jesus and his Kingdom to do this. My wife and I hope you find comfort as you endure your loss.
