of Conway, AR
May 31, 1940 - January 29, 2014
Wendell R. Kennedy, 73 of Conway, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2014.
Born May 31, 1940, he was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Drew Kennedy and Annie Pierce Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, J.D. Kennedy, Doyle Kennedy and Carthel Kennedy, all of Quitman.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Ruth Kennedy; his brother Randall Kennedy (Sylvia) of Quitman; and his children, Fred Wiedower (Joy) of Conway, Janet Spotts (James) of Vilonia and Johnny Kennedy of Conway.
He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Ginny Hensley (Chad), Justin Spotts (Jade), Julie Kaylor (Loren), John Spotts, Jordan Spotts, Will Kennedy and Elizabeth Kennedy, three great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Wendell took great pride in the higher education accomplishments of his children and grandchildren that he did not have the opportunity to attain.
He was retired from Spirit Homes where he managed the frame division for many years. He couldn't give up working and became a self-employed dirt contractor for a few years following his time at Spirit Homes. Later he was employed by Klaasmeyer Construction to look after the maintenance and acquisition of heavy equipment.
Wendell loved to fish, camp, trail ride and travel. In retirement he and Anna were blessed to be able to travel through most of the lower 48 states in their motor home. Being a former rodeo cowboy and pickup man for many years, he enjoyed following the rodeo exploits of his grandchildren, and also liked following the sporting events and other activities his grandchildren participated in.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-McNutt funeral home in Conway. Visitation will be held Friday, January 31 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wendell and Teddy worked many a rodeo together, and Wendell, Teddy and Max could get in plenty of trouble. I'll never forget when they would castrate the young bull calves and Wendell tricked me into eating Mountain Oysters. He enjoyed a good joke. All good memories.
