Bessie Mae Estes died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Hospice House surrounded by family. Bess was born on October 18, 1929, at Burlington, the daughter of Arnie and Elsie (Widner) Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Modean Edwards; and one brother, Eugene Roberts.

Bess is survived by her husband Wayne Estes; one daughter Debbie Hopper and husband Bobby; two sons, Mike Estes and wife Marcie, Randy Estes and wife Pat; one grandson Stuart Estes; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Holloway, Holly Rasmussen and Reggie Grant; one brother-in-law, Bob Estes and wife Joann; two sisters-in-law, Lela Estes and Joann Roberts and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Estes was a lifelong resident of Boone County, a homemaker with a lifelong devotion to her husband and kids. She loved to travel, enjoyed nature and loved bird watching. Christmas was always a big event with her and she picked grapes and made jelly and homemade candy and would give it away for gifts. She was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved reading and collecting books.

She was a blessing to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation was Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Services were Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Bill Arnold and Bill Collins speaking.

Burial was in Gass Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Joe D. Edwards, Danny Edwards, Davey Roberts, Billy Joe Roberts, Tim Roberts and Chris Roberts.


In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Hills.
