Joseph Patrick Chor, age 88, of Lead Hill, AR, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. The son of Frank and Mary (Kapolka) Chor, he was born March 17, 1925, in Argo, IL. Mr. Chor attended Lead Hill Christian Church. He married Edith Marie Penix on March 4, 1944, in Gurdon, AR. Sports were a big part of Joe's life. He played football, baseball and basketball for Argo High School before joining the Navy. During World War II, he was based at Corpus Christi, TX where he was a tail gunner on planes that escorted convoys through the Panama Canal. In later years, he played ''town team'' baseball and softball and enjoyed coaching the Lead Hill Pee Wee basketball and summer baseball programs. He was a fixture at the Lead Hill Tiger ballgames. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents and a sister Sophie Pyrz.

When Joe and Marie left their factory work in Chicago for a home in Arkansas, Joe learned to milk cows, haul hay, and live in the country. He did carpentry work and painted many houses and buildings in the area.

Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kenna Lou Chor, of Lead Hill; his grandson, Steve Chor and wife Amy; five great-grandchildren, Andy, Ashley, Sarah, Stephanie and Steven Chor, all of Maryville, MO; his sister-in-law, Helen Tillman, of Lead Hill; and two cousins, Barbara Wozniak and Dolores Muszynski; his nephews and nieces, Frank Pyrz, Bobby Pyrz, Beverly Townsel, Patty Tallungan and Teresa Matta, all of Chicago.

My condolences to the family and friends of my Uncle Joe.
Besides being a big part of my early years, he was also a
big influence on my two girls as well. He will be greatly
missed, but he will always be with me and my family.
God bless you, Uncle Joe!

When I think about Lead Hill and Sports I think about Joe. It just seemed like he would always be there just wright across the road listen to music, and waving. I love you all and will be praying for you.
