of Mountain View, AR
July 7, 1930 - November 16, 2012
Peter Jack McGreehin (Mr. Pete), beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away at home on Friday, November 16, holding his wife Mary's, and his grandson, David's hands. He was 82. Pete was a member of the Red Doors Baptist Church as well as a proud 55-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and 50-year member of the Brotherhood of Freemasons. Born, raised and worked in Chicago, he and Mary retired to Stone County in 1993 where he hunted, took in and cared for stray dogs, and perfected the art of canning his homemade jelly with fruit from his own garden, a skill in stark contrast to his sometimes tough exterior. Hardly a stranger to his lounge chair and a good shoot-em' up movie, he was too, a restless and cunning worker. Though retired, Peter never quit. He wired and helped with construction on various churches, and there's hardly a house in the county that he hadn't touched. Pete is survived by Mary, his son Jack and his daughters Cheryl Nowoc (Bob), Cynthia Halley (Russ) and Stacey Cyborski (Tony); lovingly by his four step-daughters, Jane Himmel, Donna Muehlbacher (Ken), Susan Fellios (Chuck) and Nancy Baker (Billy), as well as nine grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, four dogs, two cats, blue ribbons for jelly and enough funny stories to last another lifetime.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 6-8PM at the Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Services will take place on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 3:00PM at Roller Coffman Chapel. Joe Cannon is officiating.
