Helen Knoble Heard, originally from Helena, Arkansas, passed away on July 24, 2012, peacefully in her sleep at age 82. Helen had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for around 7 years and was a resident of Aegis Senior Living in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Helen was born January 16, 1930, and was the daughter of long time Helena residents Norine Meek Knoble and William Derrick Knoble. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Betty Knoble of San Antonio, Texas and by her children, Elizabeth Meek Jewett and her husband Chuck Jewett, of Davie, Florida, and Maria Bleecher and her husband, Micah Bleecher of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Helen was grandmother to 6 grandchildren, Marty & Katy Dubose, of Hollywood, Florida, Anna Dubose of Seattle, Washington, Seth Barun & Adam Barun, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Max Barun of Las Vegas, NV.
Helen was an accomplished artist, an avid golfer, and a wonderful friend to many people. She was a long-time elementary school principal, and was a positive influence on the lives of many children and young people over the span of her career. She lived and worked for many years in Houston, Texas but never strayed far from her roots in Helena, Arkansas.
Helen was outgoing, caring and full of compassion. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College and graduated from the University of Arkansas. She later earned advanced degrees from the University of Houston in Education.
Funeral services are to be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 508 East Plaza Street, West Helena, AR 72390, 870-572-2571 with visitation at 1 pm and services following at 2 pm on Monday, July 30, 2012.
