Charles Marion Van Vleet, 78, of Horseshoe Bend passed away July 14, 2012. Charles was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was born October 19, 1933 in Mount Carmel, Illinois to Michael M. Van Vleet and Lillie Meryl (Fitzgerald) Van Vleet. He was an oil field worker and served in the United States Army in the Korean War.
He is survived by four sons; Chuck Van Vleet and wife Debbie of Mountain View, Mike Van Vleet of Mountain View, David Van Vleet and Betty of Mountain View, and Kenny Van Vleet of Batesville; three daughters, Rebecca Fletcher and husband Fred of Mountain View, Mary Ellen Morgan and husband Alvis of Mountain View, and Jan Baldridge and husband James of Mountain View; one brother, Herb Van Vleet and wife Ida of Keensburg, Illinois; fifteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Van Vleet; parents, Michael M. Van Vleet and Lillie Meryl (Fitzgerald) Van Vleet; granddaughter, Patricia Yates; sister, Margaret Ellen Schlice.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 16, at Roller Coffman Chapel from 6:30-9:00 PM in Mountain View, Arkansas. Services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2:30 PM at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas with Jerry Cary officiating. Interment will be at Flatwoods Cemetery in Mountain View. Pallbearers will be Keith Foley, Rocky Morgan, Shane Morgan, Brandon Van Vleet, Ken Callahan, and Daniel Van Vleet. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Van Vleet, Cody Caston, Jimmy Van Vleet, JD Van Vleet, Jason Van Vleet, and Byron Collins.
My condolences on your loss. My great great grandfather was Jacob Van Vleet, a brother to Charles Van Vleet's grandfather David Van Vleet.
