Irene Core, 91 of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was born on January 11, 1921 in Magazine, Arkansas to her parents Sam and Sylvia (Barker) Peters. She was the last surviving member of the class of1939 from Magazine High School. She worked as a secretary for many years for Willard Mirror Company then later became a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith and loved to volunteer as a PTA member for Albert Pike Schools.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Sylvia Peters, her husband Truth L. Core, one daughter Jane Anne Core and one sister Wanda Dacus.

Irene is survived by one daughter, Dana Lambert of Hot Springs, Arkansas, two sons Michael Core of Little Rock, Arkansas and Steve Core and wife Mary of Fort Smith, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Don Lambert of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Phillip Core of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Becky Palmer of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Susan Redding of Fort Smith, Arkansas and three great grandchildren Jake, Jaci and Jami Palmer all of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, May 7, 2012 at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
