Lawrence ''Reuben'' Mize, 75, of Desha, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in Batesville.
He was born in Big Flat, Arkansas on May 20, 1942 to Joe D. Mize and Beryl Marie (Lawrence) Mize. He was a retired grocery store owner. Reuben enjoyed gardening, growing peach trees, and learning to play the piano and the guitar. Most importantly, he loved being with his family. He was a member of the Desha First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Anella Merle (Walker) Mize; sons, Stephen Mize and wife, Terry Lynn, of Lufkin, Texas, Stanley Mize and wife Jeannie, of Paragould, Arkansas, and David Mize and wife, Monica, of Missouri; seven grandchildren, Haley Mize Harris, Matthew Mize, Alex Mize, Michaela Mize, Hunter Mize, Mitchell Mize, and Brandi Mize; and two great-grandchildren, Julia Mize and Edde Mize. He is also survived by his brothers, Everett Mize and wife, Tousie, Bob Mize, and wife, Joyce, Glen Mize and wife, Eunice all of Batesville, and Larry Mize of Dallas, Texas; and one sister, Helen Griffin and husband, Tony of Mesquite, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rufus Mize.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Mize, Matthew Mize, Mitchell Mize, Alex Mize, Michael Mize, and Phillip Mize. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Mize, Bryan Mize, and Gary Mize.
The funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Desha Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Swinea officiating. Burial followed at Egner Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until service time at the church.
I'm so sorry for the loss of Uncle Reuben. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry I was unable to make it to the funeral, but want you all to know I love and miss you!
