of Batesville, AR

September 12, 1941 - January 3, 2017

Joy Janice Harmon Bransford, 75, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. She was born in Bethesda on September 12, 1941 to Oscar Claude and Myrtle (McSpadden) Harmon.

She graduated from Batesville High School. After graduating high school, Joy went on to become a nurse. She spent 44 years of her life caring for her patients at the old Clinic Hospital and later at White River Medical Center.

She was a member of Campground Methodist Church.

Joy enjoyed reading, gardening, caring for her patients and spending time with her family and friends, especially the love of her life, her husband, John Alfred Bransford.
She is survived by her nephew, Paul E. Smith Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Batesville; a step-son, Jim Bransford of Little Rock; a step-daughter, Johnnie Gail Bransford Dill of Hot Springs; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Bransford; two sisters, Juanita Harmon Smith and Ella Faye Harmon; and one brother, Forest Harmon.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the personnel of the 3rd floor recuperative care unit, many of whom were past co-workers of Joy's, for their exceptional care and compassion they showed not only to Joy, but to the family as well.

Pallbearers are Mike Harmon, Steve Harmon, Don Harmon, Paul Smith Jr., Jim McSpadden, Tommy Harmon, Jim Bransford, and Tyler Bransford. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Leonard, Dr. Robert Walton, Boyce Harmon and David Harmon
