Heaven gained an angel, yet earth lost a friend. Our beloved husband, father, and friend, Dale Calvin Simpson, age 89, of Batesville, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on October 28, 2016.
He was born in Jesup, Arkansas on May 15, 1927 to Cletus and Lavenia Massey Simpson. He married Verneil Whited on March 10, 1951, and they were blessed with two sons.
He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Wonder Potato Chips.
In addition to his parents, wives: Verneil and Edith, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Simpson.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 14 years, Shirley Simpson; sons, Sherman Dale Simpson (Cleda), Mike Simpson (Staria); step-sons, Larry Babb (Robin), Don Babb (Karen); step-daughter, Susan Thomas (Gary); grandsons, Chris Simpson (Crystal), Spencer Simpson (Rachael) and Matthew Simpson and extended family, Joe Whited, Nadine Brock, and Claude Whited; and step-grandchildren, Joey Babb, Danny Babb, Jennifer Taylor, Scott Thomas, and Clint Thomas. He is also survived by brothers, Denzil Simpson, Lon C. Simpson, Devoe Simpson; and sister, Linda Serafin. Other survivors include great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Simpson, Spencer Simpson, Joe Whited, Claude Whited, Scott Thomas, and Clint Thomas.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at North Heights Church of Christ, Batesville, Arkansas with Don Gregory and Dr. Edward Myers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery, Batesville, Arkansas.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home, Batesville, Arkansas.
