Chester Columbus Hawkins, 81, of Cave City, died Friday, October 7, 2016, at White River Medical Center.

Born August 16, 1935 in Sandtown, he was the son of Leonard and Lola Mcleod Hawkins. He married Bonnie Ring on August 27, 1960 in Batesville.

Chester served in the U.S. Army. He worked in construction for many years. His last construction job was on Banquet Foods as a foreman. Once the construction was finished, he went to work in the plant, retiring 30 years later. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He loved spending time with his family at the family cabin.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ring Hawkins; two daughters, Staria Marie Simpson and husband, Mike, of Midway, and Janet Ann Perkey and husband, Vondale, of Cave City; grandsons, Spencer Scott Simpson and wife, Rachel of Mountain Home and Matthew Wayne Simpson, also of Mountain Home; granddaughter, Miranda ''Randi'' Rachelle Perkey Scott and Husband, Matt, of Paducah, KY.; and one great-granddaughter, Berkley Grace Simpson of Mountain Home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Hawkins and mother, Lola Mcleod Hawkins; one son, Gary Don Hawkins; one brother, Franklin Nathanael Hawkins; and four sisters, Omie Inez Allgood, Leonard Novell Buchte, Dellar Lee Crow, Bernice Opal Lowe; and one infant sister.

Private funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.

So sorry to hear about Chester. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Will always remember the great times had at the lake, playing in the backyard and going to Florida with you all. You all are my family and I love you all.
