Martha Lynn Ramey Taylor of Batesville, Arkansas entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 16, 2016.
She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on December 17, 1934 to Paul Emmitt and Martha Jewel (Whiteman) Ramey.
Martha enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a devout member of the First United Methodist Church of Batesville, where she was active in the United Methodist Women, the Chaney-Huddleston Sunday School Class, the Thursday morning Women's Bible Study, Altar Guild, and was a founding member of the Sonshine Ministry.
Professionally, Martha served the State of Arkansas by working as a Deputy Circuit Clerk in Independence County from 1979 to 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Paul Ramey; sister, Carol Wood; brother, James ''Bud'' Ramey; and another sister, Mary Angela Beuris.
Martha is survived by her husband of 58 years, John A. Taylor; daughter, Sherry Hankins and husband, Bruce of Batesville, AR; son, John A. Taylor Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of El Cajon, CA; daughter, Diane Rix and husband, Scott, of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Evan Paul Taylor of San Diego, CA and Sheena Robinson of Charlotte, NC; and two great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Ruth Fox and husband, Bud, of Kingsport; brothers, Tom Ramey and wife, Lucy, and Phil Ramey and wife, Debbie, all of Kingsport, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville with Rev. Justin Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Mike Wilson, Larry Sandage, John Ellis, David Smith, Tim McKinney and Raymond Simmons. Honorary pallbearers are the United Methodist Women, Thursday Morning Bible Study, and the Chaney-Huddleston Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

When I was working as an abstracter in Batesville in the nineties, Martha was working at the Clerk's office. She was a real sweet lady. Sorry to hear of her passing. Prayers for all.
