of Batesville, AR
January 4, 1946 - September 5, 2016
Patricia E. McClain, 70, of Batesville died Monday, September 5, 2016, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born January 4, 1946 in Little Rock, she was the daughter of Merrill and Pat Marshall of Cabot.
Pat was a graduate of Cabot High School, the Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing and Harding University. She took her course work seriously as she prepared for a career in nursing, but she was also involved in campus life where her gift for leadership set her apart: She served as vice president of her freshman class, as well as a freshman member of the student council association; later, she was elected president of her junior class and of the student executive council and was named first runner-up to the senior beauty queen.
As a registered nurse, certified occupational health nurse and life coach, her compassion was extended to many. Her heart for quietly serving those around her was evident during the several years she was a member of First Baptist Church; she was a devoted wife, parent, grandparent and friend who displayed an unfailing and generous gift for opening her home and making others feel welcome.
And in every aspect of her life, she was honest, loyal, unselfish and level-headed; a woman of integrity and faith.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles Morris McClain, Jr.; five children: Charles Morris ''Chuck'' McClain, III (Stacy) of Batesville, Lori C. McClain of Little Rock, David M. McClain (Carey) of Conway, Julie A. Marth (Tommy) of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Jennie E. Beard (Jay) of Maumelle; eight grandchildren: Charlie, Zach and Eleanor McClain of Batesville, Jake McClain of Conway, Henry and Anna Marth of Chagrin Falls and Owen and Claire Beard of Maumelle; her parents; her brothers, Thomas Marshall (Martha) of Cabot and Kenneth Marshall (Cathy) of Mena; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends by whom she was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
The family will welcome visitors on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 10 a.m. - noon at First Baptist Church, Batesville; a funeral service will be held immediately after, with burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot. Rev. Stacy Reed and Rev. Matt Kilgore will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Norman Terrell, Jim Sproles, Lewis Hirschy, Gene Tulberg, Curtis Wheeler, Robert Sproles, David Wadley, and Jim Kilgore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 610 E. Main Street, Batesville, AR, 72501.

I have worked with her daughter Jennie for many years here at UAMS, thinking and praying for you Jennie....
You are in my thoughts and prayers. May God continue
to give you all strength and comfort.
Charles & Pat have been such a vital part of our church family. Pat was in our S.S. class. She always had a smile and always talking about the Lord. Such a positive & "tell it like it is" attitude. I loved this wonderful lady. She touched so many peoples lives. Pat will have many, many jewels in her crown when she places it at the feet of Jesus. A good and faithful servant. I know we will miss her greatly, but we will see her again when we go to be with the Lord. Praying for the family.
