Ann Lynette Whitaker passed from this earth at the age of 74 on July 4, 2016 at her home in Batesville, Arkansas. She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Asa L. Whitaker Jr.; two daughters, Amy Blaylock and her husband Ray of Madisonville, Louisiana and Abby Barker and her husband Roger of Batesville, Arkansas; a grandson, Josh Blaylock and his wife Erin of Little Rock, Arkansas; three granddaughters, Hannah Blaylock of Madisonville, Louisiana, Emma Barker and Lily Barker of Batesville, Arkansas; and a brother Tony Gilmore of Knoxville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her father, E. J. Gilmore of Knoxville, Tennessee and her mother Polly Anna Cox Gilmore of Batesville, Arkansas.

She was a woman of faith and a member of First United Methodist Church of Batesville, Arkansas. She sang in the church choir for over 25 years and was a part of several women's Bible study groups. Close behind her love for Jesus Christ was the love for her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and sons-in-law. Although her primary career was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother, she was also a Girl Scout Leader, owned a children's store for a few years and later worked in the Batesville School System as a library aide.

There will be a celebration of her life on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 615 East Main, Batesville, Arkansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Justin Ledbetter abd Rev. Susan Ledbetter.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Josh Blaylock, Ron Lewallen, Dick Nelms, Jerry Rose, Lyndal Waits, and Michael West.

Visitation will be on Thursday July 7, 2016 at Roller Crouch Funeral Home, Batesville from 6:00 8:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Fund, 615 E. Main Street, Batesville, AR 72501

Asa and Family, We were so very sad to learn of Lynette's passing. She was such a dear, sweet lady and we are so blessed to have had the opportunity to have you as our friends. We have been remembering all the good times we had together in so many different places the Lord allowed us to serve Him together. May God sustain you all and bring peace and comfort to you now and in the days ahead. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you.

I always referred to Lynette as Abby's mom. She was always sweet and seemed glad to see you. She will be greatly missed but she is up in Heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ!

Asa, Abby and Amy,
I am so sorry to hear of Ms. Lynette's passing. There was no more special person! She was beautiful inside and outside and always had a smile for anyone she encountered. She will be missed but never forgotten. She has touched many lives with her example of goodness, kindness and love for God. May God surround with love and peace!
