Freddy Doyle Melton, 77, of Kansas City, Kansas, died Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Kansas City.
He was born in Cushman, Arkansas on Tuesday, February 14, 1939 to Delbert Sterlying Melton and Jennie Lee (Pickering) Melton.
He was a welder for 45 years before he retired. Fred enjoyed horses, boating, cars, and most of all, he loved his family.
Survivors include his son, Richard Allen Melton of Kansas City; grandchild Steven Melton and wife, Michelle, also of Kansas City; a brother, Rick Melton of Batesville; and a sister, Kathryn Masters and husband, Ted, also of Batesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Gwendolyn Inez Johnson Melton.
A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Rev. Paul Seay officiating and under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation was from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
