Wesley Leroy Scribner, 77, of Batesville, died Sunday at White River Medical Center.
He was born in Sulphur Rock, Arkansas on December 13, 1937 and was the son of Arch Lawrence and Myrtle Irma (Stevens) Scribner.

He graduated from Foothills Vocational and Technical School with a degree in tool and die and worked as a machinist for White Rodgers for 26 years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his cattle and spending time with his family. He was known for constructing tree houses, bag swings, zip lines, a party barge and flying Jennies for his children and their friends. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur Rock.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Jane Scribner, of Batesville; sons, Terry Scribner of Magness, Andy Scribner of Batesville, Dan Scribner of Batesville, Philip Scribner of Republic, WA., and a daughter, Belynda Harris of Batesville; eighteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arvil Scribner and Edward Scribner; two sisters, Christeen Mason and Evelyn Mason; and two step-brothers, Wes Scribner and Roy Scribner.

Pallbearers are Dylan Scribner, Wes Scribner, Brett Scribner, Kelley Scribner, Devin (Holden) Scribner and Camron Harris. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Mitchell, Ben Bishop Sr., Nathan Harris, Clint Scribner, Blake Moss, Aaron Moss, Abby Treadway, Trent Moss and Jack Zelasko.

The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Pentecostal Church of Sulphur Rock with Bro. Danny Rodgers officiating and with Andy Scribner and Bro. Dennis Killman speaking. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home

We were saddened to hear of Leroys passing. I went to school with him, graduated with him, played basketball and did other things while we were growing up. He will be greatly missed. Our condolences goes out his wife, Janie ,children, and grandchildren. May God comfort you during this time.

Mr. Scribner was a fine man and I considered him a good friend. I loved our conversations about gardening, and the simple things of life. I will really miss him. My thoughts are prayers are with his family.
