Charles Nelson Hathcock, 81, of Batesville passed away Friday, June 12, 2015. He was born October 5, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to Mary Louise Barnett Hathcock and Alfred H. Hathcock, M.D. He spent his early years in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and moved to Batesville, Arkansas in 1965.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. P. L. Hathcock of Fayetteville and Mr. and Mrs I. N. Barnett of Batesville, and his brother, Alfred B. Hathcock, M. D. of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was educated at Western Military Academy in Alton, Illinois, the University of Arkansas, and Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. His graduate study in theater was in London and New York with Charles Laughton and Stella Adler, as well as Paris, France with mime Marcel Marceau. He worked as an actor at the Dallas Theater Center in Dallas, Texas and Arkansas Repertory Theater in Little Rock. He was a founding member as well as a director and actor with Batesville Community Theater. He had broad knowledge of antique furniture and worked in antique sales in New Orleans. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Batesville.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Spicer Hathcock of Fort Smith, nephew, Stephen A. Hathcock, M. D. of Little Rock, niece, Lisa Hathcock Klusmeier and her husband Walter of Bentonville, Arkansas, and great-niece Cathryn Klusmeier, great-nephews, Sam and Calum Hathcock, and Andrew and Jacob Klusmeier. He is also survived by his cousins and extended family, the Barnetts, Ketzes, Graces and the Hathcocks.
The family is planning a private burial service.

Charles's brother Alfred saved my life when I was 17, I was involved in a motorcycle accident. I was in Sparks Regional Medical Center for almost 6 months, Ill never forget Dr Hathcock. RIP gentlemen....
I am deeply saddened by Charles passing. It's hard when someone you know becomes someone you knew. I offer my deepest condolences.
Charles was a good friend I worked for him 10 years . I couldn't believe it when I heard of his passing I had just talked to him a few weeks ago. he will be missed my prayers go out to his family.

I am saddened to hear of Charles Nelson's passing. I will remember him as a cordial, genteel man with a quick smile a kind word.
Charles was a wonderful man. He was a prime example of a Southern Gentleman! Whenever you saw him he was gracious even if he had not seen you in a while. Charles was a wonderful son and loving member of his family! He will be greatly missed!
