Edward E. Pratt, 96, of Heber Springs, Arkansas died Friday, January 23, 2015, in the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.

Born June 16, 1918, in Salado, Arkansas, he was the son of William M. and Essie L. Pratt.

He was in the Class of 1938 at Arkansas College, but left in 1937 to assist the family during the Depression. He later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from 1937 to 1939 in Idaho and Arkansas and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1939 to 1944.
From 1944 until his retirement in 1981, he was the operator, technician and customer specialist for DuPont Company in New Jersey.

Mr. Pratt was very active in local politics in New Jersey. He edited a weekly newspaper and wrote a personal column ''Talking Common Sense''.

After the family relocated to Heber Springs, he continued to be active in the local politics. He also was instrumental in starting and supporting a farmers market in Heber Springs.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Eupha Johnson Pratt. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Tommy Pratt.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
