Virginia Southerland Henry, 84, of Batesville died Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Born August 27, 1930 in Floral, Arkansas she was the daughter of J. K. Southerland and Cleo Ferguson Southerland.

Virginia was an ROTC Sweetheart at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. She helped her father and husband in the poultry industry, originally J. K. Southerland Companies. She served as an Advisory Director at the Citizens Bank, was a Charter Board Member of the Old Independence County Regional Museum, a life member of Junior Auxiliary and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Virginia was a gracious hostess and enjoyed entertaining. Her hobbies included needlework, traveling and reading. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Paul Henry of Batesville; three daughters, Paula Terrell, Mary Henry and Linda Wood all of Batesville; five grandchildren, Melita Gump, Melanie Walsh, Lindsey Pounders, J.K. Lefler and William Wood; eight great-grandchildren, Timothy Walsh, Morgan Walsh, Juniper Walsh, Ana Gump, Lexi Gump, Lily Pounders, Jordyn Pounders and Logan Pounders; and a sister, Kay Southerland of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carolyn Shell; and an infant brother.

Mrs. Henry will lay in state from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014, at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Stacey Reed officiating. A reception will follow in the church annex.

Pallbearers will be Jay Shell, Joe Shell, Jimmy Waugh, Robert Johnson, Teddy Johnson and Paul Howard.

Honorary pallbearers are Andy Allison, Pete Batategas, Jim Edd Bechdoldt and Jeff Teague.
