James D. Holder, 55, of Desha died Saturday, September 27, 2014. Born May 15, 1959, in Batesville, he was the son of J. D. Holder and Peggy Elms Holder.

He was a 1977 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was an electrician. Outgoing and never met a stranger, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching movies and television. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Brittany Holder of Searcy and Nicole Holder of Indianapolis, Indiana; parents, J. D. and Peggy Holder of Desha; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Melinda Cartmill.

There will be a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville with Dr. Ed Myers officiating.

Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Elms, Wendell Elms, Bobby Holder, David Elms, Keith Hankins and Jeremy Cartmill.

Honorary pallbearers are Brian Baldwin and James Cartmill.

Visitation is from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Children's Home, Inc., 5515 Old Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450

A great friend and co-worker in the electrical field. Was his foreman and general foreman on a few jobs. Sorry to hear about his loss. Will greatly miss him. Let me know if there is anything I can do.
