Gerald ''Lyle'' Clements, 80, of Batesville died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his home.
He was born at Jonesboro, Arkansas on June 17, 1934 and was the son of Clarence Alston Clements and Rosa Irene (Morris) Clements.
A graduate of Arkansas State University, he was a counselor for the blind for 33 years for the state of Arkansas. He was a former member and past president of Batesville Lions Club, past president and member of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Association of Workers for the Blind, and a current member of the Independence County Master Gardeners. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Jonesboro.
Lyle was a master gardener and loved to garden. He loved animals and rescued them when he could and he also loved to camp. He was a mild-mannered, even tempered, kind and compassionate man and his family was very important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (Toal) Clements of Batesville; one son, Kenneth Lyle Clements of Caraway; two stepsons, Mark Andrew Lovell and his wife, Debbie of Jacksonville, Matthew Lovell and his wife, Lisa of Vilonia; two daughters, Cynthia Anne Conner and her husband, Rick of Jonesboro, Betty Sue Baureis and her husband, Robert of Springdale; one step-daughter, Regina Hall and her husband, George of Conway; 15 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sharon Jennings of Caraway and Kerry Anne Vinson of Jonesboro; and his mother-in-law, Agatha Toal of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Community of Christ Church, 919 E. Highland, Jonesboro, AR 72 with Joan Primm and Michael Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Jonesboro under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville.

Good memories of visiting the hog farm and grilling with the "drum" barbeque. Lyle kept in touch with my Dad (Al Clements) over the years with visits. May God bless the family with a sense of peace and comfort.
