Nell Fleming, 85, of Batesville, Arkansas died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at her residence.
She was born October 4, 1928 in Jackson, Tennessee the daughter of Add Willie Chrisp and Eddie Mae McCullough Chrisp.
She was salutatorian of the 1948 graduating class of Merry High School in Jackson, Tennessee. Her career included banking, working in the social security office, and she was a licensed practical nurse at St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Nell was a gentle, loving lady, who enjoyed playing dominoes and pinochle with her husband. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and people would line up for her pecan pie and cakes.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Fleming and his wife, Sabrina, of Batesville and William Fleming of California; two daughters, Valerie Fleming Peeples and her husband, Walter, of Mississippi and Cheryl Fleming Ringo of Batesville; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie Chrisp and Sammy Collins, both of Chicago, Illinois; four sisters, Willie Lois Eiland of Batesville; Ocie Carroll, Janet Chrisp and Ernestine Starks, all of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earsy Fleming; and one brother, Clarence Chrisp.
There will be a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Desha First Baptist Church in Desha with Bro. Troy Sharp and Rev. David L. Toney officiating. Music will be provided by Judy Davenport.
Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Green, Carlos Ramsey, Orlando Fleming, Larry Fleming Jr., Barry Watts and Darius Fleming.
Honorary pallbearers are Edward Bone, Michael Fleming, Robert Grantz, Rashan Easter and Lamarr Minor.
Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, July 11, 2014, at the funeral home.

My grandmother is one of the strongest women i know. She is a women of God who has done nothing but spread his love through our family. Words can not express my love for this beautiful young lady. I am glad to know that she will rest in Heaven with my grandfather who I am sure has a night on the town lined up for them soon. i love them both RIP Grandma

My son Ernest and I spent my vacation last year on the land with aunt Nell and Cheryl. Aunt Nell was so joyous and could get around and do things better and faster than a lot of us. Keep your faith stronger with God family for He knows best and why. Her gracious spirit will live forever in our hearts! R.I.P. aunt Nell with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ♡♡

Mrs. Nell was a precious lady. I always enjoyed her coming to the office and will miss her greatly, but I know she is resting now.
