Virgil W. Sisk, 92, of Batesville died Wednesday, June 13, 2012.
Born September 13, 1919 in Batesville, he was the son of Allen Jefferson Sisk and Lillian Bullard Sisk. He was a grocer and salesman. He worked many years doing something he really enjoyed which was hauling livestock. He retired from Ideal Bread. He served in the U. S. Army where he earned the victory ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and two Overseas Bars. He enjoyed riding, showing and trading horses. He was devoted to his family, God, neighbors and friends in the Ruddell Hill area.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie Lee (Cowden) Sisk; one daughter, Brenda Shipman of Batesville; five grandchildren: Rhonda Hoskins, Jamie Stevens, Jeanette Houseman, Glennon Simmons, and Russell Simmons; eleven great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren: Michael and Ronnie Shipman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Glenna Winchester; four brothers: William Sisk, Vaughn Sisk, Boyce Sisk, Everett Sisk; and one sister, Verna Davis.
Pallbearers will be Glennon Simmons, Russell Simmons, D. J. McBride, Brian McBride, Ronnie Shipman, and Gabe Simmons.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Batesville First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Terry Davis and Bro. Jeff Cox officiating. Burial will be in Barnes Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
