October 9, 1930 - September 13, 2018

Edwin Russell Brummett, Jr., 87, of Little Rock passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was born on October 9, 1930 in Little Rock to the late Edwin R. Brummett Sr. and Lilly Hoover Brummett. Russell was raised in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock University. Over the years he was very supportive of UALR, as well as the Arkansas Razorbacks, traveling to many games with his wife. They loved to travel in their RV, making it to every state. He retired after many years of service as an Electrical Engineer for AP&L. He also proudly served his country for over 40 years in the National Guard where he was a member of the band, playing the trombone. He was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Agape Sunday School class. Russell loved to draw, and in his later years he enjoyed researching his own family, and others, on ancestry.com.

Mr. Brummett was my dear friend. I have been the yoga therapist for the last 2.5 years. I would see Mr. Brummett twice a week. From the beginning, his precious gentlemanly spirit just grabbed me and we became friends. I would often tease and tell my husband about my “Woodland Heights boyfriend.” He would wait patiently until the entire room cleared out at the end of each class to hug my neck and walk me out the room and we would walk and talk all the way down the the drink kitchen. We had our little routine and it was the sweetest part of my day.
I went twice to see him at the hospital and didn’t get to see him either time. Thursday morning I just missed him...he had just passed. Your Dad was very special to me. I will miss him greatly. He was so brilliant, funny and charming.

Sending you love at this time. I am sure that if he left this kind of imprint on a random surprise friendship, I can only imagine how he loved his family and how much he will be missed.
