Kenneth D. Evans, 98 of Cabot, formerly of North Little Rock, received the ultimate Christmas gift when he went home to meet the Lord on December 25, 2017. He was born November 23, 1919 to the late Malcomb B. and Bessie Tompkins Evans in Pulaski County. He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Doris Sperry Evans; second wife of 21 years, Gisela Gartelmann Evans; son, Kenneth Evans; daughter, Ellen Evans; and nine brothers and sisters.
Kenneth was of the Baptist faith; a highly decorated World War II veteran who fought on Omaha Beach and received numerous service medals including: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, French Croix de Guerre, French Legion of Honour, and Presidential Unit Citation. Kenneth retired from Olin Corporation after 44 years of service in 1980.
Kenneth is survived by two sons, Arthur Evans (Tomi) of Cabot, Malcomb Evans (Deborah) of Cabot; 10 grandchildren: Steve Evans, Sheri Carter, Sheila May, Karen Martin, Jason Evans, Emily Elrod, Jessica Bear, Joanna Evans, Ashley Evans, Tiffany Evans; 10 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Heather, Blake, Aaron, Jordan, Lane, Jenna, Olivia, Cecelia, Abigail; three great-great grandchildren: Riley, Kinsleigh, Kyleigh; and his 103-year-old sister, Bea Dilbeck of Little Rock.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Burial to follow at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. Visitation will from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the funeral home.
Arthur, - Please accept my regards to you and the family. I would really have liked to have been at the service. I was really amazed reading your Dad's story, not having heard about it before. What an honor to have known him. He will be remembered.
