August 7, 1924 - July 20, 2017
Alvin Guy McCarn, 92, passed from this Earth to his heavenly home on July 20th, 2017 at his home on Guion Road. He was born August 7th, 1924 in Bickles Cove, Arkansas to Martha (Burns) and Floyd McCarn. He served in the Army during World War II where he displayed great courage and was awarded a Purple Heart. He lived and worked on his Stone County farm for 68 years. He attended church at First Baptist Church in Mountain View. He loved cattle farming, gardening, hunting, and talking to people.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary McCarn, son Bobby McCarn, sister Gladys Chitwood, and brother Ervin McCarn.
He is survived by his son Jim McCarn and wife Cathy McCarn, granddaughter Lesa Oxford and husband Randy Oxford, grandson Kevin McCarn and wife Keri McCarn, grandson Kyle McCarn and wife Michelle McCarn, 7 great grandchildren Kenley, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Anna, Kallie, Addison, Lauryn, sister-in-law Dorothy McCarn, nephew Dennis McCarn, niece Bonnie McCarn, niece Sharon Hall and husband Lonnie Hall, and loving family members Pat and RL Balentine, Francis and LC Gammill, Jackie and Dayna Trammell, Tim and Denise Storey, and Imogene Thomas.
He will lovingly be remembered as a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Pallbearers are Jackie Trammell, Tim Storey, Eddie Cowell, William Stroud, Larry Poff, Dennis McCarn, and Donald Barham. Honorary pallbearers are the Stone County Honor Guard.
Visitation will take place Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 from 2PM-4PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will be Monday, July 24th, 2017 at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas with Brother Jason Ingram officiating. Interment will follow at Mt, Joy Cemetery in the Dugan Community.
Military Honors are provided by the Stone County Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
Roller Crouch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
I was so sorry to hear about Alvin' passing. He was a very special person. He was a cousin to my dad, Hugh McCarn, and uncles, Goldman McCarn and John McCarn. We loved to come back to Stone County and visit.

I would like to express my sincerest condolences to the McCarn family during this difficult time. I know Alvin will be dearly missed sinced he has touched the lives of so many. I hope that you will find comfort and peace while reflecting on cherished times and memories shared with Alvin. I hope also that you find comfort while reflecting on the promises found in God's word the Bible. He has promised not only to totally eradicate death, but also the overwhelming emotional pain often associated with loosing a love one in death.(Rev21:4)He has promised a grand day that all of our loved ones who are in his memory will be resurrected to life on a paradise on earth .(John5:28,29) What a joy it will be to welcome back our loved ones like Alvin! I hope reflecting on God's promises for the future will bring great comfort and a positive outlook for the future .
