I love the name Gertrude and Gertie but Mrs. Brannin introduced herself as Ellen and once told me she did not like her other name. So to me she was always Ms. Ellen. She was a woman who shared her wit, wisdom, and warmth with me every time I visited. As most people who knew her would agree she also had a strong will which may be one good reason she lived to be 100 years old. I was blessed to know her and meet many of her family members during her centennial celebration last November. Surely, the Lord's face is shining upon hers today.

Gertrude was such a very special lady whom I know all of you will miss, but just remember you should be happy for her as she lived such a long and full life and she has received her final portion into heaven. She did an excellent job raising my two sisters alone and she always treated me as a loved one when I'd see her. She reminded me so much of my own mother whenever I saw her.May God's Love & loving arms bring you comfort to you all.
Love to you all now and forever,
Dana
