Thelma Opal Kelley., age 83, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Mountain Home. She was born April 30, 1933 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to William and Willie (Jones) Gibson. In April 1951, she married Arvil Kelley in Rector, Arkansas, accomplishing 65 years of loving marital companionship. Thelma was at the heart of all her extended family and was a second mother to her nieces and nephews, who appreciated her particular brand of protective kindness. Thelma's family will always remember her positive life-outlook, as well as her conservative political views. She was an avid reader with special emphasis on the subjects of medicine and politics. She enjoyed gardening, served as a hospital ward clerk, will be remembered for her ever-present smile and her passion for family. Thelma was a long term member of Arkana Baptist Church. Thelma is survived by her husband, Arvil of Mountain Home, six siblings: Imogene Gay, Willie Jean Gwin, Glenda Fredricks, Mary Alberson, Diann Owen and Dewayne Gibson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
