Avice Lucille Sutton Bangs died February 22, 2017. She was born in Richwoods in Stone County on January 28, 1928. Her parents, Andrew Clarence Sutton and Florence Martin Sutton, preceded her in death.
Avice is survived by her husband of 70 years, Billy C. Bangs, and one son, Randy Bangs of Mountain View. Survivors also include four sisters and one brother: Vida Teague and Faye Luther of Mountain View, Loetta Williams (Fred) of Dumas, Oma Lea Mize of Chandler, Arizona, and Kenneth Sutton (Janice) of Mountain View. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brad Bangs (Paige) of Greenbrier, and Keith Bangs (Brandy) of Lowell; great grandchildren Abigail Bangs, Jasper Bangs, and Owen Bangs; and eight nieces and nephews. Two nephews preceded her in death.
Avice attended one-room schools in Stone County before attending Mountain View High School. She began working in Simpsons' Store, a dry goods store on Main Street in Mountain View, in the early 1950's and worked there for 50+ years until her retirement in 2003. She was trusted by her customers to always know just the size they needed.
She was also known for her good food. Her pies, fried chicken, and especially her oatmeal cookies couldn't be duplicated.
Visitation is Friday night, February 24, 2017, from 5-6:30 p.m., at Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Roller Crouch Funeral Home, with Bro. Gary Fletcher officiating.
Pallbearers are Tommy Teague, Jimmy Teague, Ladd Sims,
Danny Tinkle, Littlepage Sims, and Brandon Harlan
