September 21, 1942 - January 21, 2017

Bobby Charles Williams, age 74, of Bergman, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, surrounded by loved ones. Bobby was the son of Ulis and Noble (Drewry) Williams born in Hurley, Missouri September 21, 1942, and attended Witt Springs School.

Bobby married his sweetheart, Sharon Smothers, June 21, 1966, and they were married over 50 years and blessed by 3 sons. Bobby served in the Army from 1964-1966 in Germany and worked at PACE Industries in Harrison for 40 years. He was a member of Bergman Church of Christ and served them many years as a deacon.

Although Bobby had to live with crippling disabilities, his adventurous spirit never failed. When most people in his state wouldn't be able to put one foot in front of the other, he always persisted and continued to do the things he loved, whether his loving bride Sharon said he could or not. He loved working on projects, and if he didn't have one, he would make one. He lived for the days when he would feel good enough to fish, go on an ATV ride, roast a hot dog or spend time with any of his family.

Bobby never asked for there to never be any pain, he just prayed for the heart and courage to conquer it. Courage was something he had an abundance of. Courage isn't just having strength to go on; it's going on when you don't have any strength. He did this and did it with a great sense of humor. He also showed courage in never being afraid to ask someone if they knew about God and his son Jesus. He did this even in his last days.

Bobby was preceded in death by his mother Noble Williams; his father Ulis Williams; an infant brother; his sister, Louise Warren; his nephew, Chris Rogers; and his niece, Teresa Merriman.

His life will be remembered and cherished by his wife, Sharon Williams; his children, Robert Williams and wife Cris of Bergman, David Williams of Bergman, and Ronald Williams of Bergman. Bobby will be missed by his 5 grandchildren who knew if no one else was willing to let them drive or go on an adventure he would, whether his loving bride Sharon said he could or not. His grandchildren include Riley D. Williams of Bergman, Kyra D. Williams of Bergman, David Kindell Williams of Bergman, Hallee M. Williams of Norfork, Arkansas and Laynden D. Williams of Bergman.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dwayne and Carolynn Williams of Bergman and Quinton and Jo Williams of Harrison; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Caffie and Rick Moore of Bergman, Sherry and Brad Honeycutt of Bergman, and Celia Warren of Everton, Arkansas. Bobby is also remembered and loved by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Tuesday, January 24, 2016, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison AR with the funeral immediately after in the chapel, with Johnny Arnold officiating and Bennett Horne doing the readings. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Williams, Ronald Williams, Rick Moore, Greg Blevins, Brad Honeycutt, Riley Williams and Kindell Williams. Bobby's nephews and brother-in-law were honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Hospice of the Hills, PO Box 1927, Harrison, AR 72602 or hospiceofthehills.com

The Day Called You Home

God looked around His garden,
And He found an empty place,
He then looked down upon His earth,
And saw your tired sweet face.
He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain,
And He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the roads were getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered "Peace Be Thine".

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

All my love to each of Uncle Bobby's family, his sons, daughter in law, and grandchildren. I share my grief with you, my prayers are daily and throughout the day for each of you. To my sweet Uncle, I am so very glad the last thing I said to you was a prayer before I left you for the night, and to tell you I loved you. I am thankful it was just two nights before you went home to be with our Lord. For you, I am so happy for your relief from pain. So proud and what an inspiration you are to each one of us, years as we were all children, throughout our adulthood, you've always shown us how to be a better person. To love and live for our Lord and our family's. And to be strong in the face of adversity and pain. How precious you are, always shall be in our hearts and our memories. You may dwell in Heaven, but you will live forever through each one of us that you taught, touched, and loved. Enjoy your happiness and new found relief in Heaven, pray for us here while you are there, remember each of us with no sadness but only to know we will soon be together again. Rest well sweet Uncle, you are greatly loved.
