of Marshall, AR
March 25, 1937 - August 26, 2016
Maudie J. England, ''Mama, Granny, Nana'', age 79 of Marshall, Arkansas went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 26th, 2016 which was her baby boy's birthday, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born in Hilltop, Arkansas on March 25th, 1937 to Jesse Ward and Essie (Treat) Ward.
Maudie worked as a waitress/cook for 40 years and loved her profession and working with the public. She had a spicy sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes for a good laugh. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers and animals. Maudie loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was known as Nana, not only by her own but also many other kids that she helped care for throughout the years. The best decision Maudie ever made was accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior and she made it public by water baptism. Mama faced many obstacles during the last few years of her life, but we have comfort knowing that she is walking the streets of gold.
Ms. Maudie was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Ragland; her parents, Jessie and Essie Ward; two sisters, Geraldine Latinette and Duell Mainord; one brother, Ross Ward; and one grandson, Garrett ''Buff'' Dean.
Survivors include, Joe England of the home; two daughters, Beverly Treat and Brenda (Kenney) Cassell, both of Marshall; one son, James ''JR'' Alton (Beth Ann) Ragland of Columbia, MO; extended family includes Ronnie (Laura) England and family of Lowell; Melveta Henderson and family of Yellville; Sandy (Roy) Keele and family of Bellefonte; Shannon (Angie) Rodriques and family of Marshall; twenty-one grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Drewry of Marshall; two brothers, Joe (Melba) Ward of Marshall and Jesse (Patsy) Ward Jr., of Formosa; and many nieces and nephews who will also mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Maudie will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 29th, 2016 at Marshall Assembly of God Church with Bro. Phillip Clark officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM preceding the service at the Church. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery near Marshall. Pallbearers will be Donnie Mainord, David Mainord, DeWayne Mainord, Darrell Mainord, Richard Drewry and Dale Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Ms. Maudie's grandsons and great-grandsons.
Mrs. Maudie is a great woman that I only got the pleasure of knowing through the eyes of my niece(Pepper Rodrigues) and my nephew (Tucker Rodrigues). I know that she was kind, loving, fun, Godly and much more. Her influence will be passed down through generations in all the children that she helped care for. Thank You Mrs. Maudie for always being God's Love!
