Kathleen Marie Wolfe

of Mountain View, AR

May 29, 1923 - November 26, 2014

Kathleen Wolfe died peacefully on November 26, 2014 surrounded by her family at the Stone County Nursing Home in Mountain View, AR. Kathleen was born in Centre Square, New Jersey May 29, 1923, the daughter of Anthony and Kathryn (Morris) Gerlack. In 1941 she married her first husband, Charles William Shipman, and they had three children, Henry (Joel), Patrick, and Michael. Charles died in a tragic accident in 1953 leaving Kathleen to raise the three boys alone. In 1966, she married William Wolfe. Bill worked for Chrysler Corporation and after he retired, they moved to Fox, AR. They lived in a camper there while they built a log cabin. Kathleen soon learned watercolor painting and became a very talented and well known artist in the area. She began painting at the Ozark Folk Center where she met many dear friends. Bill would frame her artwork so she could display it at their cabin. She sold some of her paintings and prints made of some of her beloved wildflowers. After Bill passed away in 1985, she moved to Mountain View.

Kathleen was also a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and for many years she served the church and took communion to home-bound and elderly parishioners who were unable to attend church. Her life was centered around her faith and she shared that whenever possible.

Kathleen has been a resident of Stone County Nursing Home since 2009. She has lived there comfortably enjoying regular visits from her many close friends. The family would like to thank the staff and her friends for helping Kathleen live her final years with so much support. Special thanks to her dear friends John and Kay Thomas for all they have done for her through the years.

Besides her parents and husbands, Kathleen was predeceased by her siblings Frances, Tony (Bud), Mary, and Delores (Sis) and her son Joel. Survivors include sons Patrick and wife Gail and Michael and wife Barbara, grandchildren Christopher, Colleen, Sean, and Kaitlyn Shipman, and great grandchildren Cooper Shipman and Emily Vollaro. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and step-family.

Friends may call on Friday, November 28 from 4-6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mountain View. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Kathleen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill, in Fox, AR.

I loved Kathleen with all my heart. I started cleaning her house, and just to spend time with her in 2008. Every week we would have Earl Grey tea in her Blue Willow china. I miss our times together Kathleen, but look forward to seeing you again some day.

It is so nice to hear that Aunt Kathleen lived such a full life. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends. I wish I could post a copy of her water color prints and bio that I have had framed and hanging in my guest room since her last visit to see Dad in Fort Pierce many years ago. Truly a treasure as was she.

I consider it an honor to have been Bill and Kathleen's physician. Their love and friendship are cherished memories. Kathleen will be missed by all of us.When taking her Holy Communion, she always told me she was ready to see Jesus. Well, your prayers were answered, Kathleen. May your soul rest in peace. We love you.
