Jan ''Pops'' Roar Mostrom, age 82, of Flippin, Arkansas passed away July 27, 2018 in the comfort of his home.
Pops was born May 20, 1936 in Oslo, Norway to the late Alf and Hilde Mostrom. Jan moved to the United States at the age of 16 and enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1954 to 1959 on the U.S.S. Oriskany (carrier) in the Korean and Vietnam wars as a machinist mate. After his service in the US Navy, Jan moved his family to Anderson Flat, Arkansas where he started a dairy farm, logged, and trucked. On June 7, 1980 Pops married Sharon Rea and they later moved to Rea Valley and enjoyed retirement there. Pops was a jack of all trades and loved farming, sawmilling, building, fishing, racing, and trucking. Pops was a member of Cowboy Church in Flippin.
Pops is survived by one son John Mostrom and his wife, Cindy, of Flippin, Arkansas; two daughters: Jana Milne of Delaware; Cheryl D. Davenport of Mountain Home, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Ashley Sanchez, Lacie Milne, Myka Arms, and Alyssa Mostrom; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Sharon.
Services for Pops will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at The Cowboy Church in Flippin with Brother J.W. Ott officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am.
Graveside services will follow at Hand Valley Cemetery near Flippin.
