Helen Madsen Mellgren

of Yellville, AR

July 1, 2018

Helen was a lifetime homemaker; married to John W Mellgren for 65 years. He preceded her in death in February 2013. They raised 3 children in St. Paul, Minnesota: David W. Mellgren, Nancy Mellgren Styer, and Susan Mellgren Staffon. Helen had 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). She cherished her family so very much, and loved her nieces and nephews and friends as well.

John and Helen moved to Yellville, Arkansas in 1975. They loved the Ozarks and lived here until they went to be with their loving God.

Helen was an accomplished pianist, taught piano lessons, and played accompaniment at many churches. She had many hobbies. In her youth she loved ice race-skating (and was darn good!!) She snow skied, went rock hunting with Susan, and basically enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

We will all miss her beautiful smile, her contagious cheerful spirit, and loving personality.

Our special love and thanks to ALL of the staff at Twin Lakes. People in every department loved our precious Mother/Grandmother. She loved them and they loved her. Thank you for your tender care for her. Also, thanks to Dr. Bogle and his staff (Angela) for their concern and care during her end of life on this earth.

Private services are under the direction of Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.

I was blessed to have met Miss Helen at Twin Lakes Nursing home, where my mom also lives. I am a member of the Flippin First Baptist Church. Several of us go to the nursing home on Sunday morning and sing some of the old hymns and have a devotion from one of our deacons. Helen always seemed to love the service. She would always tell me what a blessing it was to be able to be a part of it. She became very dear to all of us. We were so saddened to hear of her passing, but look forward to seeing her again one day. Blessings to her family. I know she loved you very much.

I loved your Mother too, she was so faithful to God and always seemed to be of good cheer. I could ask her anything about the Bible and she could always give me the answer and always very good advice. I know Mr. Melgren took her hand and they are walking together in the best place possible and that is such a comfort. We will miss her so much as you will and we all miss Mr. Melgren, my goal is to seem them again one of these days along with my Mom, Dad and brothers and sisters. Thank you Jesus for this wonderful woman.
