Earl Wood, age 100, of Yellville, Arkansas passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Wood was born May 29, 1917 in Yellville, Arkansas to the late Lee and Dora (Matthews) Wood. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a cattle farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Yellville, Arkansas. He was a loving husband, father grandfather, and brother. Earl was a member of Masonic Lodge # 117 in Yellville, Arkansas.

Earl is survived by his grandchildren: Andy James and Staci Prause both of Yellville, Arkansas; great-grandchildren: Allie Elliott, Hagen Jones, Weston Champion, Aticus and Adison James, and Luke James; one great-great-grandson Jeremiah Elliott; and his special friend Ivon Allen

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Neva (Briggs) Wood; his daughter Sharon James; nine brothers; and one sister.

Visitation for Mr. Wood will be 1:00 2:00 pm Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas with Bro. Rick Pyron officiating.

Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Layton Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Andy James, Scotty Jefferson, Aticus James, Weston Champion, Joseph Prause, and Scott Wood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Wood, Mike Wood, Terry Wood, Corbin Lee Wood, Forrest Wood, Hagen Jones, Jim Snipes, Charles Jefferson, and Matthew Wood.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Arkansas, 33 Highway 5 North, Mountain Home, AR 72653.

A friend to my parents Roscoe & Nora Jefferson as they spent many hours together in the fields as they worked or in church on Sunday morning. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Wood’s passing. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I lost my dad in 2010, and my mom in 2012. After my losses, reading Revelation 21:3,4 gave me real comfort. It says: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I hope reading these verses also give you comfort during this difficult time. GW

Our deepest sympathies. Earl has left quite a legacy up there on the farm. What a blessing! He's in good hands now! RIP Grandpa Earl.
