David Sewell, age 87, of Yellville, Arkansas went to meet his Heavenly Father on March 25, 2017.

David was born December 5, 1929 in Houston, Texas, where his father found employment during the great depression. Later his family moved to the Ozarks and bought a small farm at Caney Springs in southern Marion County.

David was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. David was a pilot, golfer, and much, much more.

David graduated from Yellville-Summit High School in 1948 and married Ruthanne Dillard in 1949.

David worked on the Bull Shoals Dam for 2 years and then attended Draughon School of Radio in Little Rock, obtaining a first class radio telegraph license and a Second Class Commercial Radio License. David then went to work for the Arkansas State Police as a radio dispatcher until entering the US Army Signal Corp. In 1952 he became an instructor in high speed radio telegraph, teletype, and electronic theory.

After Honorable discharge from the Army in 1954, David spent the next 14 years in the construction industry working his way up to Superintendent before going into the real estate business in 1968 as Broker/Owner of the Buffalo River Land Company in Yellville. In 1973 he became co-owner of the Holiday Inn in Rogers, Arkansas and the Ramada Inn in Conway, Arkansas.

He re-entered the construction industry in 1980. David continued in the construction industry as Construction Project Manager over many major multimillion dollar construction projects throughout the United States and overseas for the next 29 years until his retirement in 2010 at the age of 80 years old.

During their working years, he and his wife Ruthann traveled to all 50 states in the US and 11 foreign countries. David traveled alone to 7 other foreign countries in Africa, India, and the Middle East.

He is survived by his wife Ruthann (Dillard) Sewell of the home; his children, son Marcus and wife Kate Sewell of Yellville; daughter Gina and husband Mike Rotenberry of Yellville; his granddaughter Kristen Sewell Hickman and husband Jay Hickman of Harrison; grandson Max Rotenberry of Yellville; Gentry Rotenberry Cooper and husband Zac Cooper of Yellville. David was blessed with two great-grandchildren Bazze and Liz Hickman. Sister in law Mary Lou and husband Ed Lynch of Yellville; brother in law Burton Dillard and wife Patsy of Greenbrier; sister in law Sybil and husband Dave Castor of Greenbrier. David was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents Clara and Marion Sewell; brother Ed Sewell; sister Marie Gunn; Grandson Bazze Sewell; Mother and Father-in-Law Floy and Bazze Dillard; and Brother-in-Law Russell Dillard.

Visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Roller-Burns Funeral home in Yellville, Arkansas.

Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Broadway Church of Christ in Yellville with Jon Hendrix officiating and Gerald Davenport speaking of David's accomplishments.

Burial will be private at De Soto Cemetery on Rush Road.
