Jack Walton CoxI am a Veteran.

of Flippin, AR

June 28, 1940 - February 4, 2017

Jack Walton Cox of Flippin, Arkansas, was born on June 28, 1940, to Manard and Ruth (Hurst) Cox in Crooked Creek Township.
He passed from this life Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Walton was married to Shirley Jean (Jefferson) Cox on January 23, 1960, and to this union was born three children: Angela June White (Randy), Galen Wayne Cox (Cindi), and Shannon Gail King (Buddy).

Walt attended Flippin school. As a young man he joined the Navy. Then returning home he married Shirley.
While living in Branson, Missouri, Walt worked at Silver Dollar City, at Shepherd of the Hills play, and tying steel & construction.
Later, Walt returned to Arkansas to farm and raise cattle.
In 1978, Walt and Shirley purchased a western store in Mountain Home, that they called Cox Western World.
People would travel for miles to have Momma's personal service and for Daddy's company.
Customers didn't just come to buy something, they came because they were in a place they loved, with people they loved. Along with the western store,
Walt operated The Buffalo Wilderness Guide Service, and his horse stables. Walt retired in 1997 to their farm in Flippin, Arkansas.
Walt loved riding and hunting in the mountains alone or with friends. He was happiest on a mount or visiting, but when he could combine both, that was when he was the happiest.

Walt understood how to enjoy and fight for life. After years of a courageous Parkinson's battle, he continued to wear a smile and enjoy people.

Walt is survived by his 3 children and grandchildren: Amber (Josh), Becky, Levi, Skyler (Dominique) and Scarlett;
great-grandchildren: Ava, Ruby, Maleigh, Brekken, and Tylee, a sister Sybil Castor (Davey), sisters-in-law Mary Cox, June Jefferson, Jackie Jefferson, Jessie Adams and brother-in-law Truman Jefferson (Kathy).
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Cox of 56 years, his parents and brothers, Russell Cox, Burl Cox, Wade Cox, and brothers-in-law Marlin Jefferson and Russell Dillard.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Rea Valley Baptist Church, Flippin, Arkansas. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Fred Goodall officiating.

My sister and I live about 400 yards from what was the old Rea Valley Cox Family Homestead on what is now MC 7033. My sister and I are praying to the Lord for the repose of his soul and for the Lord to comfort the family.
