Marlene May Benke, age 69, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas passed away from this life Monday, December 26, 2016 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home Arkansas at 5:40 am.

She was born February 25, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska to A.K. and Laura (Pipkin) McLeish.

She graduated from Waterloo High School in May 1965. She went on to attend the Medical Institute of Minnesota. She worked for a while in the lab at the hospital in Oakland, Nebraska, then transferred to the lab at the hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota before moving back to Omaha, Nebraska.

On March 24, 1972 she was united in marriage to Fred Haverty in Silssleton, Sought Dakota, and returned home to Omaha, Nebraska. To this union one child was born Leslie Ann on January 25, 1973.

She worked for Dr. Lyle Nelson from May 1973 to August 1988 in Omaha, Nebraska.

On October 11. 1976, she married Stanley Benke in Waterloo, Nebraska, with this union she became the step-mother to three children: Stanley Jr., Linda, and Scott.

In 1988 she moved with her family to Bull Shoals, Arkansas. She worked in the lab of the Bull Shoals Hospital from 19898 to 1990. Then she went to work in the lab of Ahren's Clinic in Yellivlle, Arkansas from 1990 until she retired in 2007.

She loved to read, and cook wonderful things for her family and friends. She also enjoyed going to antique stores and flea markets with her husband, She also loved spending time with her family.

Marlene is survived by her children: Leslie (Kevin) Stone of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; Linda Lewis of Valley, Nebraska; Scott Benke of Fairview, Arkansas; and Stanley (Cheryl) Benke Jr. of Waterloo, Nebraska.

She is also survived by the following grandchildren: Tina (Mark) Peterson, Stanley (Emily) Benke III, Amy (Joey) Radicia, Tami (Mark) Floody, Sara (Joey) Dye, Elizabeth Benke, Scott Benke Jr., Robert (Allie) Benke, Michael Benke, Andrew Benke, and Jasmine Stone. She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Parker, Timothy, Matthew, Claire, Jack, Adrianna, and Gianna.

She is also survived by her Aunt Maxine McLeish of Arkansas; Aunt Ruth McLeish of Massachusetts, and Aunt Trudy Pipkin of Colorado, and many cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stan Benke; her parents, A.K. and Laura (Pipkin) McLeish; two grandsons: Andrew Lewis, and Larry Kydd Stone; son-in-law Brad Lewis; her sister Laurene Benke; by both sets of grandparents; and by many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm at the Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas; Funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday January 11, 2016.
