James Allen Thompson, age 89, of Harrison, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Hillcrest Home. He was born May 21, 1928, at Cave Creek, Newton County, Arkansas, the son of Alton ''W. A.'' and Grace (Greenhaw) Thompson.

James graduated from Harrison High School in 1946. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. He was stationed in Japan and the Philippines while serving. In 1952, he married Wanda Oxford, and they had celebrated 65 years together. Reverend Rudolph performed the ceremony at the First Christian Church in Harrison, Arkansas, where they remained members.

After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to Harrison where he owned and operated Thompson's Food Market for 21 years. Later he became the owner of Thompson's Ace Hardware, working there many years with his wife, Wanda. After retirement he and Wanda enjoyed many bus tours across the country. James also became an excellent craftsman, making many beautiful wooden items that he shared with family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lewis Thompson; and his in-laws, Roy and Eula Oxford. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda Thompson; his son, Brent Thompson and wife Teri, of Harrison; and his daughters, Beth Crouse and husband Dean of Harrison and Becky Warnock and husband Clay of Alma, Arkansas. He was blessed with the following grandchildren, Candace (Johan) Eriksson, Camille (Will) Guyton, Crystal (Aldon) Taylor, Josh (Fran) Warnock, Erin (Jason) Reeves, Chris (Danae) Warnock, Miles (Alexis) Thompson, Haley (Matt) Walters, Lillie and Eve Warnock and Dee Dee Lewis; his great- grandchildren are Zade, Ireland, Milan, Bryce, Isaiah, Vinnie, Rocco, Nazareth, Ellie, Joslynn, Troy, Titus, Taj, Elias, Emelia, Cole, Cooper, Reese, London, Paisley, Steele, Bennett and Tinsley.

Mr. Thompson was always the kindest man and eager to help when you were in his store. I considered he and Wanda my friend. So sorry for your loss.
