Herschel Thalls

of Harrison, AR

June 14, 1972 - January 5, 2018

Herschel Thalls, age 45, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home. He was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1972, in Richmond, Indiana, the son of Nola (Carter) Rudy. He was baptized at Union Baptist Church where he was a member.

Herschel was a very patriotic man and loved fireworks and anything to do with the United States and the United States military. He owned a Honda Civic that he painted red, white, and blue. He had an amazing heart. He would help anyone with anything; he would help you move, would keep spare tires so if someone had a flat he could help them get back on the road. He was a very devoted son to his mother, whom he took care of for many years, devoting his time to her care and well being.

Herschel also loved all cars and had started a car club, Smokin2NRZ. All of their proceeds would go to help children and many charities. He was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for Crooked Creek Fire Department. He loved all animals, music, and shooting guns. He took karate at the Academy of Self Defense and Karate where he earned a brown belt. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face. He also loved decorating for Christmas and always said Merry Christmas to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Thalls, and his nephew, Brandon Granier. He is survived by his mother, Nola Carter Rudy; his sisters, Rhonda Harrison and her husband Roger and Tonya Folse; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Memorial service was Friday, January 12, 2018, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Bro. Ohmer Dyal officiating.

Herschel, I knew your family well back in the day. I spent hours and days with your brother. I knew your sisters like my sister. I spoke to your mother many times, all this back in the day. Your brother was taken and it was a shock. Now your day came and I'm just as shocked. You had just written a post about your mother the other day, and then I read you were now gone. God has said there is a time for you and all of us to depart. Your time came to soon, to young, but I will never forget you, your brother, your sisters or mother. You were all a part of my early life. May you see God face to face and be rewarded eternity in his presence.
