David Paul Shockley, age 71, of Harrison, died Monday, August 14, 2017, in Texas. David was born February 19, 1946, in Harrison, the son of Elmer and Pauline (Steen) Shockley. David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John E. Shockley; and his sister, Joan C. Nelson.
David was a United States Marine veteran having served in the 5th Division, 3rd Battalion, an independent truck driver and owner of Cricket Creek RV Estates.
David is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda Bassett, Alice and Jim Barclay, and Tammy and Kevin Davis; his fiance', Jean Still; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was Friday, August 25, 2017, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Memorial service was Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Robert Shaddox officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were David's family and friends.
Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery with military graveside honors.

I'm so sad to hear of David's passing. He was a part of my life when I was a little girl. A lot of my childhood memories include him.

I am so sadden to hear of our dear friend. Our family was very blessed to have him in our lives. Cook outs, cutting the bull at dad's shop, to meeting my daughter on Monday night's to eat at her work. He will be greatly missed. The Collins/Slusher Family
Jean I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you during this difficult transition. I knew Dave very early in my life and later as an adult. I always considered Him a friend.

My heart goes out to David's family and many friends. I was blessed to have known the Shockley family over many years. It was always a joy when our paths crossed. David was always upbeat, a true friend to so many and a wonderful soul.

My heart is sad hearing that my friend David died. He was a great man with a tender heart yet so strong. I know there will be many people who loved him waiting for him in Heaven!
This is such a terrible loss. He was a friendly,kind and loving friend. We so much enjoyed his company. I have woke him up in the back yard so many times waiting on Jerry to get home. LOL I always loved sitting and BS'N with him. He is already missed so much! Prayers for all of you. He was truly a one of a kind!!!! He loved his friends and family so much!!
