October 12, 1920 - May 5, 2017

Argil Curtis, of Harrison, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison at the age of 96. He was born October 12, 1920, in Lead Hill, Arkansas, the son of Troy Lee and Cora (Smith) Curtis.

Argil loved the Lord, singing with his brothers and sisters, and had a great second tenor voice. He loved his country and served in World War II, after the Battle of the Bulge, as a Army Staff Sergeant, Company A, 66th Infantry, 71st Division and was given two Bronze Stars. He returned home to Harrison, where he bought a home on Route 4 (Highway 7 North). He worked for Flexsteel and ran a mean band saw. He served as Teamster president at Flexsteel and retired from Harrison Furniture Company later in life.
At home he loved his garden, mowing the lawn, and driving his GMC truck to the lake with his sweetheart, Neoma!

Argil is survived by his deeply loved wife of 72 years, Neoma Curtis; one daughter, Belinda (Curtis) Jones Valentine and son-in-law Steve; a brother, Tommy Curtis and wife Vivian; two sisters, Jessie Creamer and Johnnie Sharp; a sister-in-law, Joyce (Hopper) Taylor; many nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, Kim and Greg Umber of Springdale, Angel and Jay Guerra of Kansas City, David and Jamie Jones of Little Rock, Delana Jones of Seattle, Washington, Tiffany and Lyle Watkins of Harrison, Amber and Erick Schermerhorn of Fayetteville and Tony and Crystal Valentine of Harrison; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Argil's heavenly reunion includes his parents, Troy and Cora Curtis; his brothers, Cecil Curtis, Horace Curtis, and Billy Curtis; his sisters, Drucilla Crosswhite, Bettie Madle, and Florence Ramsey; a daughter, Carolyn (Curtis) Walker; a son, Aaron Argil Curtis; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, neighbors and friends.
