Mildred Pruitt Jones, age 94, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. The daughter of Lester and Velvie (Roberts) Pruitt, she was born June 12, 1922, in the Hopewell community near Harrison. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vaughn Jones; her brothers, Norbie and Roy Pruitt; and her sisters, Gladys and Willodean.
Mildred was a native Arkansan and a member of Ridgeway Church of Christ. She worked for the City of Harrison in the Water Department for 35 years. She also worked at Woolworth Department Store and nights at Wal-Mart. Mildred was always busy taking care of others and had a wonderful, feisty sense of humor. Her family and husband were her joys in life. She loved to help her husband hay the cows and enjoyed working right beside him.
Mildred is survived by her family, Norvena (Charles) Davis, Marilyn (Jack) Rose, Jan Ratliff, Bob (Maria) Pruitt and Mike (Kathy) Austin; and numerous other family and friends.
Visitation was held at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home Tuesday, December 20, 2016.
Funeral service was Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Roller-Christeson Chapel with Bro. Arvin Adams and Bro. Bill Arnold officiating.
Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Wagner, Bill Collins, James Lange, Braeden Rogers, Terry Wagner and Justin Austin.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Harrison Retirement Center.
