John Evert Markle, age 78, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed from this life Wednesday, August 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born September 23, 1936, at Pyatt, Arkansas, the son of G.W. "Wash" and Ethel Waggoner Markle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Coyita Richardson, Vernie Stonecipher, Lessie Powell and Delpha Hensley; and his brothers, Hallie, E.G., Bert and L.D. Markle.
John was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and Razorback fan who loved his family and spending time with them. He was a hardworking man who supported his family with occupations including plant manager at GAMCO in Big Spring, Texas in the 1960's. The love of Arkansas brought him and his family back home in 1970 where he did custom bulldozing and then later dairy farming until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sheila Joyce Methvin Markle, of the home; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Vince and Jacquie Markle and Victor and Debbie Markle, all of Harrison; his daughter and son-in-law, Viviane and Roger Rains, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; his brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne Markle and Jerry and Doris Markle; and a sister, Ruby Hopper; along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation was Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Roller Christenson Funeral Home.
Memorial service was Monday, August 17, 2015, at Roller Christenson Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Johnson officiating.
Interment was in Keesee Cemetery at Monarch, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were Victor Markle, Vince Markle, Jeff Markle, Steve Dees, Justin Dees and Keith Williams.
Honorary pallbearers included Dr. Geoff Dunaway, the medícal staff of Willow Street Health Center, the medical staff at NARMC, and the medical staff at Mercy Hospital.
