Peggy White

of Osceola, AR

October 19, 1926 - April 12, 2016

Peggy Leal St. John White died on April 12, 2016. She was born in Texarkana, Texas on October 19, 1926, the daughter of Warner and Jewell Thompson St. John. She grew up in Rogers, AR, attending public schools and serving as a majorette for her high school. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity. After college she moved with her family to Little Rock and worked at the State Capitol Building. There she met Moreland Boyd white who was from a pioneer Mississippi County farm family. They were married in Little Rock on April 30, 1948. Peggy and Boyd lived the rest of their lives in Osceola, AR with Boyd farming the family land and Peggy being a housewife. They had three children: Moreland Boyd (Christie) White, Jr., Carolyn White (Charles) Ellis and Godfrey St. John (Lucy) White. She had six grandchildren: Mary Boyd Eillis, Emily Ellis (Matt) Porter both of Springdale, Michael (Aracely) Ellis of Bentonville, Elizabeth White and Godfrey White, Jr. both of Memphis and Sara White of Fayetteville. She also had five great-grandchildren: Caleb Fann, Abby Fann, Katie Ellis, Michael Ellis and Zoe Ellis. She is also survived by one brother Warner (Diane) St. John Jr. of Lady Lakes, FL. She is preceded in death by her husband, Moreland Boyd White and her parents. Peggy will be remembered as an outstanding cook, just as her mother was. She was a loving grandmother who always took time to teach the children to bake cookies or to swim with them in the gulf at Destin. She was an avid Razorback fan, an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Osceola for many years and was the eldest member of Chapter O of PEO. Her favorite times included springtime on the screened porch of the family home, watching the trees and flowers blossom and the hummingbirds eat nectar. In Lieu of flowers, contributions to a church or charity of your choice are requested.

Carolyn, Moreland and Godfrey, you had a remarkable mom who we're sure has now brightened heaven as she did on earth. She was a perpetually sweet and delightful woman whose sudden void here has no doubt filled your dad's in the great beyond. Our thoughts, prayers and love go out to you in this heartbreaking time. Much love, Maureen and Corey

Our prayers and sympathies are with y'all at this time. I will designate a gallon of blood platelets that I have given will be in her name. If there is anything that an old friend can do, HOLLER.
