Dorothy Nix Haywood, 84, of West Memphis, Arkansas, died Thursday, April 20, 2017 in Conway, Arkansas.
Mrs. Haywood was born September 2, 1932 in Booneville, Mississippi to the late John and Lillie Ryan. Dot was a business owner of a customized interior design shop working with designers in Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. Her customized works were featured in Mid-South Design Magazine. She worked in the Design Business field over 50 years and owned her own business ''Designs By Dot'' over 40 years. Prior to opening her own business, she was a Manager for Slinker and Kirkpatrick in Memphis.

Dot was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife and caregiver. She loved her family so much, always wanting to do as much as she could for them. She was a great cook and was known for her cornbread dressing and coconut cream pies. She had a relentless love and passionate heart for the Lord and witnessing to others for him. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in West Memphis.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Haywood; her daughters, Debra Bartrow (Frank) of Conway, AR and Melanie Clements (Jerry) of Thornton, CO; son Ron Nix of St. Louis, MO; step daughter, Kelly Smith (Barry) of San Antonio, TX; step son, Brent Haywood (Laura) of Cabot, AR; grandchildren: Nathan Bartrow (Candace), Hannah Villarreal (Kevin), Kelsey Bonsante (Jim), Katie Clements, Austin Clements, Jonathan Clements, Caitlin Smith, Jackson Haywood, John Luke Haywood; great grandson, James Bonsante; brother, Junior Ryan of Gary, IN; and sister, Mildred Shook of Booneville, MS. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roy Lee Ryan.


NOTE: Committal Services and Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Monday May 1, 2017 at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, AR.
