Jana Dee Blackford, 54, of Marion was born April 14, 1962 in Lepanto the daughter of Maurice and Ranny Shortnacy . Jana went to be with her Lord March 7, 2017 in Marion, a place she dearly loved. Mrs. Blackford was a servant to her community and her belief in healthcare along with educating our youth. Jana was most known for her many years as a nurse and later an educator helping lead Medical Professional Education at Marion Senior High School. She was a Christian and attended First Baptist Church of West Memphis. Mrs. Blackford is survived by her husband of 34 years, Johnny Blackford, Jr. She is also survived by her parents along with her two children; John Donald Blackford III ( Mallarie ) of Trumann and Erica Blackford Dent ( Dee ) of West Memphis. Jana is also survived by one sister; Lee Anne Swindler ( John ) of Marion along with a father- in- law John Blackford, Jr. and sister-in-law, Sharon Goode. Mrs. Blackford will lie in state from 2:00 pm 4:00 pm Sunday March 12, 2017. The family will receive their friends from 2:00 pm 4:00 pm Sunday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis. Funeral Services will be held Monday March 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of West Memphis with Interment to follow at Crittenden Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions in memory of Jana may be made to HOSA at Marion Senior High School or the Youth Group at First Baptist Church of Trumann.

I loved Mrs.Blackford the moment I stepped foot into her classroom and joined the HOSA club. She made teaching and the club so full of life. The love she showed to everyone was powerful. I will never forget it. I'm truly blessed I met her and was taught by her.

One of my favorite teachers of all time...she was so sweet and nice to me when I attended her class. I had moved to Marion after Hurrricane Katrina and and by the time I did enter the 10th grade I got a chance to be in her class I'm glad I took it..she impacted me so much that I actually found interest to be apart of the medical field..I hope dearly that Mrs.Blackford Rest In Peace & I send my deepest condolences to her friends & family that love her dearly

She was my favorite teacher, and when i heard about her passing it absolutely broke my heart. She taught everything I know about the medical field.
