Muza Sergeevna Vakhrusheva

of Searcy, AR

July 22, 1943 - January 18, 2018

Muza Sergeevna Vakhrusheva was born on July 22, 1943 as the second child to the late Sergei and Alexandra in the city of Ukhta, Komi Republic, USSR. After graduating from high school in Ukhta, Muza began her studies in the mathematical department at the Pedagogical College in Syktyvkar, Russia. After graduating college, Muza was supposed to have been sent by a special committee to one of the rural villages in the Komi Republic to be a mathematics teacher, as all teachers were during that time. Muza was ready to go wherever her motherland would send her. Fortunately, one of her teachers, Alexander Ostrovski, saw in Muza a talented computer programmer and was able to persuade the committee to allow her and two other talented students to be allowed to work in Ukhta, in a newly established computer programming center. Muza was granted that permission and she lead the computer programming department where she worked for over 30 years. She mentored many young computer programmers and served as leader of a professional union caring and standing for the rights of workers, even in the difficult conditions of the former USSR.

Muza was happily married to Vladimir Vakhrushev, MD on January 19, 1973 and they had two daughters, Inna and Tonya. Her daughters married and blessed Muza with three granddaughters, Rachel, Nicole, and Katerina.
On February 23, 1992 Muza and Vladimir were baptized in Syktyvkar for the remission of their sins, which is how the Ukhta Church of Christ began.

Muza died on January 18, 2018, just one day before her and Vladimir's 45th wedding anniversary. Family who preceded her in death include her father Sergei and her mother Alexandra. Muza is survived by her husband Vladimir Vakhrushev, her sister Albina, her brother Alexander, her children Inna Swann and Antonina Henderson, her sons-in-law Paul Swann and Derren Henderson, her granddaughters Rachel, Nicole and Katerina, her niece Margarita, and her nephews Sergei and Vyacheslav.

Muza was a wonderful Mother and a loving Grandmother. She loved her family dearly. Muza devoted her life to Jesus and was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. She loved to distribute the Bibles in many of the northern Russian cities and she served the people of Ukhta and other nearby cities in the best possible way she could. Her legacy of love, devotion, compassion, and kindness will live in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, family, and Church Family.

Visitation will be Friday, January 26, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral Service will be Saturday January 27, 2018 at 1:00 PM at University Church of Christ. Inurnment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
